Development plans for data centres by Empyrion
The Gangnam Data Centre is the first new building to be built in the Gangnam neighbourhood of metropolitan Seoul in the past ten years.

The facility aims to address the city’s lack of available data centre space.

The timing of these initiatives is crucial for Seoul, since the market for data centres in Korea is predicted to expand at an average annual rate of 6.7% and reach a value of USD$6.4 billion by 2027.

According to Mark Fong, CEO of Empyrion, “South Korea is widely known for its high internet penetration rate and fast fibre networks both domestically and internationally with strong cloud, content, and gaming communities already formed and continuing to grow at a rapid pace.”

“This agreement with Sejong Telecom will meet the constantly growing demands on network performance and capacity and ensure that our Gangnam DC customers have access to the reliable network services they require on their digitalization journeys,” said Sejong Telecom.

“All firms are primarily focusing on digital transformation, which includes not only data collecting and operation but also new ICT strategies. To quickly adapt to customer changes and compete with domestic and international carriers, a customer-focused data centre and communication infrastructure will be required. Customers will benefit from seamless global connectivity thanks to this relationship with Empyrion, said Kiyoon Yoo, CEO of Sejong Telecom.
